Simon Cartwright
Website/Blog:
Simon is passionate about prayer, justice and mission. He is an ordained Anglican priest who has a particular calling to the inner city and working with the urban poor.
Over the last 25 years, he has been involved in pioneering four new forms of church with remarkably similar characteristics:
- all formed from a focus on prayer,
- all formed by working with the dechurched,
- all involved reaching out in multicultural communities,
- all involved getting people together to share food
- and in two cases, we ended up revitalising an old church building!
It was through this journey that Simon discovered he was increasingly monastic in his vocation, with a strong emphasis on prayer (in the cave), hospitality (in the refectory) and mission (on the road).
At the moment, Simon works for Transforming Notts Together helping to inspire, equip and connect churches as they help people break free from poverty. He is currently exploring where God may be calling him to develop new church communities again, in the meantime, he is using his gifts to help the Society by serving as Secretary."
Current Roles in the Society: Secretary of Chapter, and recognised Pioneer/Missioner.
